On 24th March why not join us at 9am in East Didsbury for yet ANOTHER free member event. Our new Sunday Walk is a distance of 9 miles taking approximately 4.5 hours whilst we make our way along an extremely scenic route leading from Langley to Shutlingsloe and Tegg’s Nose.
This walk is marked with a difficulty level of 3 which equates to a few short
steep ascents but nothing too hard.
We finish our walk at the Leather’s Smithy pub which is just close to Langley, Cheshire; our walk guides us via the green, majestic Macclesfield forest (which is
the very last, although substantial remnant of what was the original Royal Forest of Macclesfield an ancient, extensive hunting reserve.
We cross through the forest climbing Shutlingsloe which is also known as the “Matterhorn of Cheshire” which is a name that is linked to its distinctive shape, with an elevation of 506 metres (1,660 feet).
Admiring these stunning views we then make a descent heading to the secluded Forest Chapel, (this is a pink sandstone, slate roofed church dating back to 1673). 
From this beautiful forest chapel we finally head to Tegg’s Nose (380 metres) (1,247 foot) which boasts panoramic views of the breathtaking Cheshire Plains all the way around to western locations such as Liverpool and it is possible to view the stunning Welsh hills.
We return to the Leather’s Smithy for a well deserved pint and Sunday roast.
