Feeling Charitable

Social Circle have decided to make The Christie the charity of choice. It is a local charity yet on a broad scale and for a great cause. So feel free to donate to The Christie and show your support. Simply click here and follow the instructions.

The Christie admits approximately 12,500 patients each year, as well as treating around 40,000. It is the Cheshire Cancer Network and Greater Manchester’s main cancer centre and covers a population of 3,200,000 with clinics at a further 16 general hospitals. Approximately 15 per cent of its patients are referred from outside if the area and additionally, there is a private patients unit. Patients are referred to The Christie from district general hospitals with their cancer already diagnosed.

There is no cancer treatment centre of its size in Europe and is a worldwide authority in research and development.

Its service s include endocrinology, palliative and supportive care, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and specialist surgery. Its radiotherapy department is one of the largest in the world, with more than 80,000 radiotherapy treatments every year. It delivers more than 30,000 chemotherapy treatments and performs approximately 3,700 operations per year. It features one of only eight dedicated teenage cancer units in the country and has 257 beds for inpatients with a seven day average length of stay.

So support The Christie, as we do, and lets show our local community and this fantastic charity that we care too. We donate to ourselves throughout the rest of the year and we’re entitled to. But sometimes, it’s the right thing to give back to a worthy cause.
