A firm favourite on the Social Circle calender each year (back by popular demand) is our FAMOUS Ben Nevis Walking Weekend.
Exhillarating, fun and social with exercise and the most jaw-dropping views of the Scottish Highlands.
The highest moutain in Scotland, Ben Nevis, is also known as the “mountain of heaven” and reaches an amazing 4,409 feet high – it is in fact the highest mountain to be found in the British Isles.
As one of the National Three Peaks it is indeed a stunning peak which was formed over 400 million years ago starting its life as a volcano during the global continental collision.
Ben Nevis is not an active volcano, however, the rocks along with the stunning geological features point clearly to the origination of this amazing mountain are these are still clearly visible today. During a clearer day
views from Ben Nevis provide some of the most awesome views available in the UK.
Climbing Ben Nevis will afford you with the most tremendous sense of achievement and is another life time goal provided for you by Social Circle
This year our Ben Nevis group will be staying at the Glen Nevis YHA. This is no ordinary YHA though because it is set in an awe-inspiring glen which sits in the shadow of Ben Nevis itself. The hostel boasts a path which runs almost
from its door to the mountain summit.
Arriving in Inchree in Onich (near Fort William) on Friday 7th June we will be enjoing an evening dinner and a pint of two whilst we all socialise as a group and get to know each other.
After Saturday ‘s hearty breakfast our 10.5 mile climb will begin which will be followed by evening celebrations of drinks with a well deserved meal down in the valley.
There’s no need to worry about being an experienced walker because we won’t be rushing this climb (we have all day), people can go at their own pace.
This package includes:
car sharing transport, central accommodation, walking guide and social guide, sense of achievement with certificate and more than a few heaps of FUN!
We’ll also be taking in the stunning views of Steall Falls in the Nevis valley (this is Britain’s second highest waterfall- 120 metres) and there’s a good chance we will also be visiting Ben Nevis distillery
