The Castlefield Artisan market has been organised by Jodie and Asif Farakhan, responsible for award-winning Indian food right here in the UK, oh and also Portugal; they once owned restaurants there. Well, Social Circle, as we like to sample everything local will be allowing you the opportunity to sample what the stalls have to offer with some new Manchester friends.
Upon the launch of the market, Asif said: “This is something brand new for the area, which has become residential since the last time there was a market here. We’ve tried to get permission for a couple of years now, and residents and producers are really excited and looking forward to the opening.”
There are plenty of stalls for those who wish to browse as well as eat, selling vintage clothes, jewllery, books, home and garden products and flowers and, in fact, anything made b the fair hands of artisans.
A group comprised of cultural establishments, business owners and resident, known as Castlefield Forum, conducted a survey recently which saw residents being asked which events they most wanted to be held in the area.
48 per cent said that they wanted to see more markets.
The chair of the group, Carol Middleton, said: “We’re delighted to welcome the artisan market to Castlefield. We’ve been wanting markets to come back to Castlefield for years.
Chef and founder, Neil Broomfield, feels that locals appreciate a market that takes the area into a new stratosphere when it comes to quality: “this has the potential to become the Borough Market of the North.”
